I have been visiting family and friends in Bermuda since 1967. It is a tax haven with one of the highest standards of living in the world. Their economy is primarily based on finance, off shore companies and insurance. Tourism has dimished over the years as other inexpensive destinations with better climates and more to offer have grown. It has prospered more than other tax havens because of its location, about an hours flight from all the major cities on the Eastern USA seaboard. It has a unique man made beauty to it. The government legislates that the architecture must blend, high rises are banned, neon signs are banned, etc. etc.
