Artist's Description
This is the first painting I ever painted. I did it in 1954. I was 10 years old, using my older brother's paints and brushes. I find it as interesting as anything I have done since and it makes me now wonder about talent and art education. It hung in my mother's house and I only reacquired it after she died. Recently, I told someone who had treated me very generously that I wanted to give them a giclee print of of one of my images in the Fine Art America website . They went through 300 images and chose this one. They asked me why I laughed at their choice. When I explained the painting, they found it hard to believe that I did it as a child. They thought it was "deep" and wanted to know what I was thinking when I did it. I have no idea what I was thinking when I did it over 50 years ago. They "loved" the giclee print on canvas when it arrived. The print now sits on a wall opposite a painting they purchased earlier this month for $3,500. The print size I chose for them was...
