I had always wanted to go to Saba. It is a small island close to St. Martin in the Eastern Caribbean. I had read how its cliffs soar out of the ocean for hundreds of feet and they had to almost chisel out a road way in the cliff side to reach the single dock. It was not a disappointment.
Ian Duncan MacDonald. "Artists are different. That creative void inside of them is filled by the gift of art. That persistent need to create. It keeps them striving. It's less about the destination than the path." For decades, I worked in oil, acrylic, ink and pastels. Now, I mostly create images in a digital medium. I have been to Saba many times. That picture looks like it was taken before captains quarters was destroyed by the hurricane. It could be that there was a path from the museum over to that spot back then.

Hi Susan: I took this picture many years ago. From what I can remember there was a small museum in Saba and I think I came out of it and took the photograph close to it. I had read about and wanted to go to Saba for years. It is not easy to get to. From St kitts, where I spend the winters, I could see Saba on the horizon, So close yet so far. Finally I go there from Saint Martin. It is unique, It did not disappoint me.
